The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, has given pride of place on its website to a recent homily by Bishop Camillus Etokudoh of Port Harcourt.
The prelate decried “the aftermath of the recognition given to same-sex union[s] in America and Ireland, describing the same-sex union as an abomination and an aberration of societal values and debasement of human dignity,” according to the bishops’ conference.
“God is still in control,” said Bishop Etokudoh. “This phenomenon will come and go; but the truth will always remain.”
