Ex-nuncio, facing Vatican trial for abuse, died of ‘cardiac event’
August 31, 2015
A team of three medical experts, led by forensic pathologist Dr. Giovanni Arcudi, conducted an autopsy on the body of Józef Wesolowski and determined he died of a “cardiac event,” according to the Holy See Press Office.
Wesolowski, who died on the night of August 27-28, was a papal nuncio and archbishop who was laicized for sexually abusing minors. He had been living under house arrest at the Vatican and was facing a criminal trial before a Vatican tribunal on charges of the possession of child pornography and the sexual abuse of minors.
