Vatican declines to support Palestinian effort to fly flag at UN

The Vatican has declined to join in a UN resolution, advanced by the Palestinian Authority, that would call for the display of the Palestinian and Vatican flags at UN headquarters.
The Palestinian resolution, calling for the display of flags of all non-member states, was advanced on behalf of all those states. But the Holy See asked to be removed from the resolution, which had been prepared without consultation with Vatican officials.
The Vatican said that it would not oppose the Palestinian effort, but did not wish to be involved.
