Pope to commemorate World Day of Prayer for Creation

At his August 26 general audience, Pope Francis announced that he will commemorate the 1st World Day of Prayer for Creation at a Liturgy of the Word in St. Peter’s Basilica on September 1.
“In a communion of prayer with our Orthodox brothers and with all persons of good will, we want to offer our contribution to overcoming the ecological crisis that humanity is experiencing,” he said.
