Acceding to a request from local civil authorities, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco has agreed to house 50 refugees at Genoa’s archdiocesan seminary.
The decision was made “in the spirit of the Gospel, in communion with the appeals of Pope Francis, and in continuity with the spirit of solidarity that has historically characterized” the Church in Genoa, according to an archdiocesan statement.
Monasteries, shrines, and other Catholic institutions in the archdiocese are currently housing over 300 other refugees, according to the archdiocese.
