Rome plans urban 'facelift' in preparation for Jubilee

August 12, 2015

The City of Rome is planning a series of urban improvement projects in preparation for the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Mayor Ignazio Marino said that Rome would have a “facelift” in the months leading up to the Jubilee Year, which opens on December 8. In addition to paving streets and cleaning parks, the city will remodel train stations, improve major thoroughfares, and install a new tram line across the Tiber to connect the Ostiense and Trastevere neighborhoods.
