Do not settle for mediocrity, Pope tells European youth

August 10, 2015

Pope Francis encourages youth “not to settle for a mediocre life without aspirations,” the Vatican’s Secretary of State said in a message on the occasion of the European Youth Gathering, which took place from August 5 to 9 in Avila, Spain.

Instead, the Pope encourages youth to “strive to grow in a deep life of friendship with Christ” and to become increasingly “aware of the immense gift received in baptism and confirmation, which impels us to bring the love of Christ to our neighbors,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin said in the message, which was addressed to the president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference and released by the Holy See Press Office on August 10.
