Jewish extremist placed under 'preventative arrest' by Israeli police
August 06, 2015
Israeli police have taken the rare step of placing a young Jewish extremist under “preventative arrest” because of his suspected involvement in attacks on Christian churches.
Mordechai Ben Gedalia (Mayer), a resident of a Jewish settlement on the West Bank, was taken into custody on August 4. His arrest was part of a crackdown on extremist groups that began after a Palestinian baby died when her family’s home was torched. He is believed to have been involved in a series of incidents, including the arson attack on the Church of the Multiplication of Loaves, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.
