Term-limit proposal for officials of Roman Curia?

July 30, 2015

A proposal for “term limits” for officials of the Roman Curia will be among the proposals discussed at a September meeting of the Council of Cardinals, according to a report from the Catholic News Agency.

Italian journalist Marco Tosatti says that the proposal to be discussed would suggest a 5-year term for clerics working in the Roman Curia. That term could be renewed once; then the priest would return to his diocesan assignment.

It is not clear whether the proposal would apply to lay officials as well as clerics.
