Pakistani Christian acquitted of blasphemy charge

July 29, 2015

Arif Yousaf, a Pakistani Christian accused of blasphemy in 2013, has been acquitted, according to a UCA News report.

Yousaf, who owned a fireworks store, was accused of selling fireworks that contained pages of the Qur'an.

"Since the very first day, we have been saying that the blasphemy law was being misused and poor Christians have been targeted for personal vendetta," said Father Emmanuel Yousaf Mani, director of the Pakistani bishops' justice and peace commission, as he welcomed the decision.
