Counteract tribalism, Kenyan bishop urges universities

July 24, 2015

Following student protests at the University of Eldoret and Moi University, a Kenyan bishop called upon university administrators to counteract tribalism, a Nairobi newspaper reported.

"These two learning institutions are very vital in the country's education sector, but what has been happening there can easily bring them down," said Bishop Cornelius Korir of Eldoret.

"It is sad that there have also been claims of tribalism in recruitment and in processes that should be democratic such as student politics," he added. "This has the potential to take us back to the dark days if not addressed."
