Vatican to UN: include common good, human dignity in discussions of development

The Vatican’s delegation to the UN has argued that a document on sustainable development should emphasize that economic, social, and environmental concerns are intertwined.
“For example, preference for the protection of the environment or economic growth, without first considering the dignity of the human person and the common good of society as a whole, would be contrary to the very nature of the agenda,” the Vatican delegation argued.
