Fears for major Nigerian city as Boko Haram advances
July 16, 2015
A spokesman for the Diocese of Maiduguri, Nigeria, expressed fears for the future of the city of 1.2 million amid advances by the jihadist group Boko Haram.
“The rate of the Boko Haram attacks in the past few weeks have become worrisome and dangerous,” said Father Gideon Obasogie, according to a Fides report. “If Boko Haram succeeds in cutting us off from the other part of Nigeria, Maiduguri is doomed.”
