Islamic militant group tells Christians: leave Jerusalem or risk death

July 06, 2015

Islamic militants are distributing leaflets in Jerusalem, ordering Christians to leave the city or face death.

The leaflets say that any Christians who remain in Jerusalem at the end of Ramadan (July 18) will be subjected to death. A group calling itself the Islamic State in Palestine distributed the leaflets.

Bishop William Shomali, an auxiliary of the Jerusalem patriarchate, told Aid to the Church in Need that "there is anxiety about the leaflets, although only a moderate anxiety," among the city's Christians. He said that Israeli government officials are "well informed" about the threats.

If the Israeli authorities know about this, we can hope and pray they have a plan to protect the Christians in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel which has also been dealing with church desecration.

I have read four newspapers so far today. It is interesting that the only place I have seen this story is here. Maybe the mainstream media don't think ISIS is to be taken seriously.
