Pope’s activities curtailed during summer

June 30, 2015

The Holy See Press Office has announced that Pope Francis will not hold his Wednesday general audiences during the month of July. The audiences will be resumed in August in the Paul VI Audience Hall.

In 2013, Pope Francis did not hold general audiences in July or in August. In 2014, he reverted to his predecessor’s custom of omitting the July audiences but beginning them again in August.

The press office also announced the suspension of all other papal audiences at the Vatican, with the exception of the July 3 gathering in St. Peter’s Square with Catholics involved in the charismatic renewal. From July 5 to 13, he will undertake an apostolic journey to Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay.

Following his previous practice, Pope Francis will not celebrate public daily Masses with invited groups in Domus Sanctae Marthae until September.

Pope Francis will continue to deliver an Angelus address each Sunday in July and August, as has been customary.
