Indian government takes action against Caritas

June 24, 2015

The Indian government has placed Caritas India on its watch list, saying that the Catholic charity may be "involved in anti-India activities."

“Any transaction that the organization makes through Indian banks will need clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs,” The Indian Express reported. “A senior government official said the organization was put under the category after its funds, given to various NGOs, were found to be involved in anti-India activities.”

Caritas India is the anti-poverty and development agency of the Church in India.
