Bishops to voters in Philippines: oust corrupt politicians

The Catholic bishops of the Philippines have issued a pastoral letter asking the faithful to reject “notoriously corrupt” politicians in June 14 elections.
The pastoral letter cautioned voters against “spin doctors” who can smear the reputation of candidates. They also encouraged voters to look beyond the candidates from families with longstanding political connections. “There is no monopoly on ability for government, and truly no one in government is indispensable,” the bishops observed.
