Support group for parents of homosexuals denied bid to exhibit at World Meeting of Families

June 04, 2015

An organization serving Catholic parents of homosexual children has been denied a place in an exhibition at the World Meeting of Families, the National Catholic Reporter reports.

An official for the World Meeting of Families said that the group, Fortunate Families, would not be allowed to exhibit because the organization’s statements suggest that “if parents give any sense of disapproval of behavior at all (or even ambivalence), they are harming their children and even setting them up for greater risk of suicide."

The rejection of the Fortunate Families application comes just after the Lepanto Institute charged that a lesbian activist was acting as “gatekeeper” for the World Meeting of Families exhibits. Organizers for the event promptly responded that the individual in question was providing only logistical services, and all decisions on the appropriateness of exhibits will be made by personnel of the Philadelphia archdiocese and/or the organizing committee for the event.
