Irish archbishop distances himself from Cardinal Burke's criticism of Irish voters

June 03, 2015

Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh, the Primate of All Ireland, has distanced himself from Cardinal Raymond Burke’s criticism of Irish voters who approved a referendum to recognize same-sex marriage.

Cardinal Burke had compared today’s Irish voters unfavorably with pagans, who “may have tolerated homosexual behaviors, they never dared say this was marriage.”

“I wouldn’t use that language,” said Archbishop Martin in an RTE radio interview. Although he also expressed discomfort over the referendum results, he said that the Irish bishops did their best to “ask people to try to be respectful and inoffensive in language.”

Archbishop Martin also stopped short of endorsing a statement by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who had described the Irish referendum result as a “defeat for humanity.” He said that Cardinal Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, was “trying to express the loss that occurred here.”

That's right. Never call a spade a spade. Never speak the unvarnished word of God. Candy coat everything with "love, love, love." Never call sin, sin or make anyone uncomfortable about how they live their lives. Our politically correct prelates know how to play the game.

We are facing apostasy on a grand scale and an epic failure of the clergy stretching over decades, but please, let's be polite about it!
