Cardinal Pell reportedly anxious for opportunity to testify before Australian sex-abuse inquiry

Cardinal George Pell is not only willing but anxious to testify before an Australian royal commission investigating sex-abuse complaints, a source close to the Australian cardinal reports.

Cardinal Pell—who is now living in Rome, where he is prefect of the Council for the Economy—faces renewed charges that he helped to cover up the misconduct of a notorious pedophile priest while he was serving as an auxiliary bishop in Melbourne. The cardinal thought that he had already responded adequately to the allegations, a friend told News Corp Australia, since he had testified at length and no evidence had emerged to support the charge against him. Now he is determined to rebut the charges, the unnamed source said.
