May 22, 2015

About 300,000 people are expected to attend the beatification of Archbishop Oscar Romero on May 23.

Cardinal Angelo Amato, the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, will preside at the beatification, with seven other cardinals concelebrating the Mass. The celebrations in San Salvador begin on Friday evening, with a Mass at which Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga will preside, followed by an all-night prayer vigil.
