Former Dominican leader, advocate for including gays, named consultor to Pontifical Council
May 18, 2015
Father Timothy Radcliffe, the former worldwide leader of the Dominican order, has been named by Pope Francis as a consultor to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
Although it is a minor appointment, the Pope’s choice stirred interest because Father Radcliffe has been a prominent supporter of outreach to homosexuals. In 2001, a scheduled appearance by Father Radcliffe as keynote speaker at a convention of Caritas International was cancelled under pressure from the Vatican.

Another poor choice sending the wrong message. But maybe not for this Pope.
