Papal statement mourns killings at Kenyan university
April 03, 2015
Pope Francis has issued a statement denouncing the terrorist attack that killed at least 148 people at Garissa University in Kenya.
Armed members of the Islamic group al Shabab assaulted the school. At first they killed students indiscriminately; then they separated Christian students for execution.
Pope Francis described the attack as an “act of senseless brutality.” He said that he was praying for the conversion of the terrorists.
The Pope urged "all those in authority to redouble their efforts to work with all men and women in Kenya to bring an end to such violence.”
