Pope's doctors advise long walks

April 01, 2015

Pope Francis has been advised by his doctors to eat less pasta and exercise more often, to counter a weight gain that is aggravating chronic back problems, the ANSA news service reports. The Pope’s overall health is robust, insiders report, and at the age of 78 he manages a work schedule that would challenge younger men. But because he is so busy, he rarely takes time for exercise. Doctors have recommended regular walks.

Pope Francis has added noticeably to his weight since becoming Pontiff. He suffers from back pain that is attributed to sciatica.

I don't like contradicting physicians, but the Holy Father ought to take a look at Weight Watchers.com. I eat a good deal of (whole grain) pasta, but very little fat and skip the sweets. Add thirty minutes on the elliptical, and--voila!--back, leg and belly pain gone.
