Carmelites observe worldwide day of prayer for peace

Pope Francis joined members of the Carmelite order who were observing a worldwide day of prayer for peace on March 26, concelebrating Mass at the Domus Sanctae Marthae with Father Saverio Cannestra, the superior general of the Discalced Carmelites.
The world’s Carmelites announced the day of prayer for peace in connection with celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of the birth of St. Teresa of Avila. Each Carmelite community has been asked to participate in the prayer campaign, and to pray also for victims of persecution.
