Report on Scottish cardinal's misconduct now on Pope's desk

March 16, 2015

A Vatican-ordered investigation into the misconduct of Scotland’s Cardinal Keith O’Brien has been completed, and is now in the hands of Pope Francis awaiting his action, the London Tablet reports.

Cardinal O’Brien resigned from his post as Archbishop of Edinburgh in 2013, admitting to sexual misconduct. He is now living outside of Scotland, and is not expected to return.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta, who was once the Vatican’s top prosecutor for sex-abuse cases, was appointed last year to head an investigation into the charges against Cardinal O’Brien and accompanying reports of widespread sexual misconduct within the archdiocese he led.

A spokesman for the Edinburgh archdiocese confirmed that the investigation is now complete, and the Pope will decide on any further action. “We hope and trust that he will reach a decision that is fair and just to everybody involved,” he said.

When those kinds of behaviors have reached to such a height, you can be sure it is a pandemic. They bring in their own kind at all levels. I've seen it happen even in Civil Service. Identifying one person is nearly a waste of time. "Fair and just to everybody involved" - absurd! What about the people of Edinburgh?
