European bishops’ conferences to host conference on ‘decent work’
March 13, 2015
The Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) has announced it will host a day-long conference at the EU Parliament devoted to “decent work-- the path to dignity for all.”
“At the present time the majority of the global work force survives working informally, without social protection, earning hardly enough to maintain a living or by working embedded in global product chains, which mostly serve only one part of the globe,” according to a COMECE statement. “The conference event wishes to highlight opportunities for decent work as a way out of poverty, social dialogue as a road to social peace, both connected to achieving sustainable, peaceful and prosperous societies.”
