Irish bishops conclude meeting
March 12, 2015
The Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference has concluded its spring 2015 general meeting.
In addition to issuing a statement on the upcoming same-sex marriage referendum (“Marriage is important—Reflect before you change it”), the bishops encouraged Catholics to go to confession, attend Mass on St. Patrick’s Day, reflect on the upcoming synod on the family, support charitable efforts to address climate change, and pray for persecuted Christians.
The bishops also “discussed the importance of blood and organ donation as a part of our giving within the Church,” and the bishops’ drug initiative called for an end to “advertising and marketing of sporting events by the drinks industry.”
