UN report finds restrictions on religious freedom in Vietnam
March 11, 2015
A UN report has found “positive developments, but also a number of serious problems regarding religious freedom in Vietnam,” the Fides news service reports.
The UN report pointed to restrictions on religious freedom, hostility toward minority faiths and unregistered religious groups, and unclear policies for regulation of religious activities. The report said that the Vietnamese government appears to ignore the basis of religious freedom: “The right of an individual or group to freedom of religion is not created by an administrative procedure, but there is as inalienable right of individual conscience.”
