Prelate confirmed in curial position

March 11, 2015

Pope Francis has confirmed Archbishop Piero Marini in his role as president of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses, a position he has held since 2007.

The 73-year-old prelate served as Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations from 1987 to 2007. Once private secretary to Archbishop Annibale Bugnini, the chief architect of the liturgical reforms following Vatican II, he voiced his support for legal recognition of same-sex unions in 2013.
