Supreme Court vacates ruling against Notre Dame in contraceptive-mandate case

March 09, 2015

The US Supreme Court has set aside an appeals court’s ruling that denied the University of Notre Dame an injunction against the enforcement of the Obama administration’s contraceptive mandate.

Really? I thought the issue in 'Hobby Lobby' was focused on the fact that Hobby Lobby is a closely held family company which is entitled to protection of the owning family's religious values. How does that principle apply to Notre Dame University? I would have preferred a more fundamental 'institutional religious freedom' ruling (ie, the religious teaching of faith based educational organizations must be respected).
