Azerbaijan's president meets with Pontiff

Pope Francis met on March 6 with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

A brief Vatican statement released after the meeting indicated that the conversation had focused on bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See. The Pope also spoke with Aliyev about the international situation, and the need for cooperation and dialogue across religious lines.
