Montana diocese reaches agreement with victims in bankruptcy case

A federal bankruptcy court has approved a compensation plan in which the Diocese of Helena, Montana, agrees to pay $21 million to 380 sex-abuse victims.

The plan, which was approved overwhelmingly by the victims, will allow the diocese to emerge from bankruptcy. Bishop George Leo Thomas said that the agreement was “a time for new beginnings.”
