Vatican press conference on new Church network for the Amazon

Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, held a press conference on March 2 to highlight the work of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM).
Formed by area bishops in November 2014, REPAM aims to promote cooperation between dioceses, religious orders, and other Catholic groups that minister along the Amazon River in various nations.
REPAM also seeks to promote the human rights of the indigenous and the poor and to protect the environment of the Amazon basin.
