Without God, successful life can be total failure, Pope says

February 19, 2015

“A person can earn everything, but in the end become a failure,” Pope Francis reminded his congregation at daily Mass on February 19.

In his homily the Pope remarked that Lent is a good time to assess one’s life, and recognize the things that are truly important. He spoke about the danger of becoming “a total failure, maybe hailed by the masses, but ultimately nothing more than a worshiper of trivial, pithy things that pass.”

"The search for personal success, for possessions, without a thought for the Lord, for one’s family is always the wrong path to choose,” the Pope said. “There are two questions we must ponder: How is my relationship with God, how is my relationship with my family.”
