Pope approves synod participants from nearly 30 nations

Pope Francis has ratified the names of participants chosen by nearly 30 episcopal conferences to take part in the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the family.

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia, and Archbishop José Gomez were elected by their brother bishops to take part in the synod, while Archbishop Blase Cupich of Chicago and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco were elected as substitutes.

Episcopal representatives from numerous nations, including Brazil, Germany, and the Philippines, have yet to be announced.
