Nigerian archbishop seeks worldwide response to terror killings in Africa, too

January 12, 2015

A Nigerian archbishop has challenged the West to show the same concern for murdered Christians in Africa as for slain journalists in Paris.

Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos told a BBC broadcast audience that Nigeria needs help in combating the Boko Haram terrorist offensive, because “we seem to be helpless.”

Archbishop Kaigama spoke after young girls detonated suicide bombs to kill 23 people, just days after the slaughter of up to 2,000 in another Boko Haram attack. "The new strategy of Boko Haram terrorists to use innocent children as human bombs is abhorrent and unimaginable,” the archbishop said.

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has rarely spoken about the Boko Haram offensive, and his government has failed to curb the rebels. While issuing his appeal for international help, Archbishop Kaigama said that the would also like to see “a great demonstrationof national unity” in Nigeria, similar to the mass march organized in Paris after the Charlie Hebdo killings.

Most of Western world is Eurocentric. Africa is out of their radar and left abandoned if not for oil to get from there.

Please share this. President Jonathon even offered his condolences to France but made no public comment about the thousands killed by extremist terrorists in his own country
