Papal telegram for murdered Mexican priest

December 31, 2014

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has sent a papal telegram of condolence to Bishop Maximino Martínez Miranda of Ciudad Altamirano, Mexico, following the murder of a diocesan priest.

Father Gregorio Lopez Gorostieta was kidnapped from a seminary and murdered after he preached against organized crime, Vatican Radio reported.

The papal telegram expressed “firm condemnation” of the “unjustifiable violence.”
