Holy See calls for action on climate change

December 24, 2014

At a recent United Nations conference devoted to climate change, the Holy See’s representative said that “the critical problem of global warming is inextricably bound to the search for authentic human development.”

Archbishop James Patrick Green, the apostolic nuncio to Peru, said at the Lima conference that “the longer we wait, the more it will cost; more victims will suffer from our inaction and the greatest weight will fall on the most vulnerable, the poorest people and future generations: what is at issue here is respect for their fundamental human rights.”

Archbishop Green also called for the education of children and adults in environmental responsibility.

The prelate’s remarks, delivered on December 10, were published in the December 24 edition of L’Osservatore Romano.

The left's answer to the supposed problem of "climate change" is POPULATION CONTROL. Which of the proposed methods does the good bishop prefer? Contraception or abortion? So called Global Warming is a joke. Heck, it snowed in Hawaii on Christmas Day. No wonder the Church is losing members - its Princes can't provide a consistent message.

MAG has it exactly right, sad to say. The USCCB also has bought into the deceptions and misrepresentations of the global warming alarmists. The biggest lie of all is "97% of scientists agree" that global climate changes are caused by human activity. The sheer hubris of that view is astonishing, never mind that the science is anything but settled. Shepherds, please go back to preaching the genuine Gospel and leave these matters to real scientists and those charged with prudential judgment.

He wants more education when today's education(indoctrination) is the problem. The science is weak, the textbooks are often wrong on climate, and the teachers most often lack sufficient knowledge of the air and the water. A warming planet would be better for more people than would a cooling planet.

Extra atmospheric CO2 is responsible for 17% of the increase in crop yield since 1900. The barely increased warming we've experienced (~1.4F) adds to that. I suppose the Archbishop would cool the world & take us back to a time when Canada, one of the largest producers of wheat in the world, was unable to grow wheat because it simply wasn't warm enough. Since cold causes more deaths than warmth, deaths due to extreme weather have decreased. Ah, how wisdom suffers when knowledge is lacking!

The bishop should have said, “the critical problem of global warming is inextricably bound to the search for authentic science on man's contribution to global warming.” Maybe he was misquoted. There are many scientists who are motivated by government contracts and many politicians who are motivated by power.

Yet again a bishop out-kicks the coverage of his competency.
