The final report of the apostolic visitation of institutes of women religious in the United States will be released on December 16.
The visitation was instituted in 2008 by Cardinal Franc Rodé, who at the time was prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. The visitation attracted much criticism from the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.
Father Thomas Rosica, who has done work for the Holy See Press Office for the past year, told the Detroit Free Press that Mother Clare Millea, the apostolic visitor, is “one of the great women of the Church.”
He also described Sister Sharon Holland, president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, as “a great, great woman of faith.” Both Mother Millea and Sister Holland will be present at the Vatican press conference at which the report is released.
