Iraqi leader vows to assist nation’s Christians

November 03, 2014

Iraq’s new prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, “repeated several times he personally feels responsible for the protection and defense of Christian citizens,” the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church said following a November 2 meeting.

Patriarch Louis Raphaël I Sako told the Fides news agency that the prime minister “deplored the phenomenon of the exodus of Christians, defining it as a great loss to the nation.” The leader also pledged to increase Iraqi military presence in Baghdad neighborhoods where Christians have been kidnapped.

Abadi speaks too little, too late, and takes no action like Malaki's govt before him, and Obama's govt too. Their tepid words are meant to salve broken hearts, bodies, and minds when what they need are prayers, beans, bullets and band aids. May these politicians enjoy their just deserts. Keep our brothers and sisters in your mind and prayers.
