Pope meets with president of European Parliament

October 31, 2014

Pope Francis met with Martin Schultz, the president of the European Parliament, on October 29 and discussed the Pontiff’s upcoming address to the body.

The European Parliament has 751 members, who are elected by the people of the nations of the European Union.

“We prepared the visit of the Pope to the European Parliament, which I think is an exceptional moment for the European Parliament, and we talked about the circumstances and the political framework the Pope will find when he delivers his address,” Schultz told Vatican Radio.
