Israeli university honors Pontiff; Palestinian protest

October 28, 2014

Pope Francis has been selected to receive an award from Israel’s Bar Ilan University, drawing a protest from the Palestinian foreign ministry.

The Pope will be honored for his ''engagement in building bridges between different worlds, promoting peace and harmony among nations and faiths.” The university’s citation calls attention to the Pope’s trip to Israel earlier this year and his efforts to promote understanding between Christians and Jews.

Truth? Here's the latest truth. Two days ago, the Egyptians closed their border with the Gaza Strip because Hamas killed 31 soldiers. They will build water trenches in order to halt Hamas tunneling, as well. Egyptian media also claim the Hamas is meddling in their affairs, as well.

How should the Palestinians act when their water and electricity is rationed to the point that they don't have enough to bathe and cook? How should they act when the Israelis bulldoze their homes and destroy the wells that they dig? How should the Palestinians act when they see their land continue to shrink with all of the illegal settlements? Oh I know, they should just learn to turn the other cheek! Folks, you are getting only one side of the story here in America. The truth is suppressed

"...[B]ombed to smithereens"? What should we say about the thousands upon thousands of indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israel by terrorists located in Gaza? Israel had to act in the face of these assaults on its territory and people. Absent those unprovoked attacks, no Israeli planes or artillery would have needed to fire at the aggressors in Gaza and no "smithereens" would have happened. Beyond that, be careful when using statistics issued by Hamas terrorists. They have an ugly habit of lying.

feedback: That's because Hamas is a terrorist organization (sponsored by Iran) that cares little for Gaza except as a staging area for violence against Israel, which they caused and continued for weeks. Any country would react to rockets being lobbed at them and armed terrorist entering through tunnels at night.

Exactly one week after the Pope's visit, Gaza was bombed to smithereens and over 2000 civilians lost their lives.
