New death threats against anti-Mafia priest

October 23, 2014

An Italian priest who vowed to continue his fight against the Mafia despite a threat from the imprisoned “boss of bosses” has received new death threats.

Father Luigi Ciotti said that the Mafia has becoming increasingly aggressive because of Italy’s difficult economic situation and because of pending legislation that would offer prosecutors more weapons in the battle against organized crime. He said that he has received new threats from several sources.

"But they could even kill me; by now a network of wonderful people has been created that will fight back," the priest said.
