Pope Francis to meet with Vietnamese leader
October 13, 2014
On October 18, Pope Francis will meet with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam, according to a brief announced from the Holy See Press Office.
“The meeting will allow a deepening of the bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Holy See,” stated Father Federico Lombardi, the press office’s director.
The meeting between Pope Francis and the prime minister, who has led the Communist nation since 2006, follows five bilateral meetings in recent years devoted to laying the groundwork for diplomatic relations.
