Iraqi prelate asks Muslim leaders to condemn terrorism

September 30, 2014

Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako has challenged Iraqi Muslim leaders to "openly express your rejection and your condemnation of violent religious extremism."

The Iraq prelate, in a message of greeting to Muslims celebrating the feast of Eid al-Adha, said that Christians in Iraq "would like to stay with you as partners and work together as a team for the progress of our country." He said that Christians "believe that all Muslims do not approve the actions" of the Islamic State.

A plea that will fall mostly on deaf ears. Even those who might be sympathetic to his appeal do not want to die violently. There is nothing in the teachings of Mohammed that rules out the use of violence, despite what supposed "experts" in the West proclaim. Anyone who reads newspapers (and who is not blinded by senseless notions like "dialogue", "reasoning together", etc.)knows that this is the case.
