Publisher defends new books against Cardinal Kasper's protests

September 23, 2014

The publisher of two new books arguing against the "Kasper proposal" has forcefully defended those works, responding to complaints from Cardinal Walter Kasper.

Father Joseph Fessio, the head of Ignatius Press, strongly objected to Cardinal Kasper's charge that the criticism of his proposal-- which would allow for divorced and remarried Catholics to receive the Eucharist-- had not been followed the norms of academic courtesy. "You chose to leave academia to enter public life," the Jesuit publisher said. "Get used to it."

Father Fessio observed that Cardinal Kasper had told an Italian newspaper that his proposal was not made as a "definitive solution" to the question, but rather offered some possible options. "Well, what are you complaining about then?" Father Fessio said. "You got some answers and some response to your considerations."

Why would a Catholic Bishop in the position of a Cardinal discuss "possible options" to corrupt the Scripture and Tradition? May God bless Father Fessio!

    Bravo, Father Fessio!

Great for Father Fessio. Cardinal Kasper is bootlicking to the Catholics who would actually destroy the Church by trying to destroy her teachings and doctrines.
