Scots nervous as independence vote approaches, bishop reports

September 17, 2014

The people of Scotland are “highly nervous” about the independence referendum that will be decided by vote on September 18, a Scottish bishop told Vatican Radio.

Bishop John Keenan of Paisley said that he was surprised that, according to opinion polls, the vote will be extremely close. But he was gratified that a vigorous campaign had “never become a source of violence” in Scotland.

Bishop Keenan remarked that he was disappointed to notice that religion was not discussed during the debates leading up to the referendum, and a draft of a proposed constitution for an independent Scotland had “hardly any mention of religion” in the 600-page document.

An independent Scotland would be dominated by the SNP, a left-wing socialist party, who would use their power to spread the LGBT propaganda throughout Europe. This party and government has already legalized SSM in Scotland, and is profoundly anti-Catholic in its philosophy and policy, like all Marxist-orientated political bodies. A 'No' vote will not necessarily be Scotland's salvation from this tyranny by the left, but it will certainly pull the fangs of Mr Salmond, the SNP dictator.

Nervous perhaps, but also excited and hopeful we can become a more caring, compassionate society where the poor are valued and given hope.
