Protestant church forced out of East Jerusalem building

August 29, 2014

Following repeated incidents of vandalism, harassment, and break-ins, an evangelical church in a Muslim neighborhood of East Jerusalem has been forced from its building, according to Morning Star News, which reports on the persecution of Christians.

The report stated that the church’s landlord bowed to intense pressure from Muslims to stop renting the building to the congregation.

Referring to members of the Orthodox churches, the pastor stated that “some of those [pressures] in the community were from traditional Christians, believe it or not … They said, ‘You guys are not Christians. What Christianity do you represent? If you’re not an official church, then God doesn’t hear your prayers.’”
