Italian bishop says critical remark about pro-lifers was taken out of context

The secretary-general of the Italian bishops' conference, who earned the wrath of pro-lifers by saying that he could not "identify with the expressionless person who stands outside the abortion clinic reciting their rosary," now says that his remark was taken out of context.
Bishop Nunzio Galantino of Cassano all'Jonio told the monthly Sempre that when he referred to an "expressionless person," he was answering a question about the influence of new social media.
Vatican journalist Marco Tosatti disputes the bishop's explanation, pointing out that the original influence in which Bishop Galantino made his remark does not include any questions about social media. The bishop, Tosatti charges, is trying to blame the media for his own embarrassing statement.
